A dangerous drink-driver with a history of being boozed-up behind the wheel has been banned from the road for another five years.
Chelsey Bleasby crashed her car and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital after her latest liquor-linked law-breaking incident in March this year.
The Mornington woman initially refused to be breath-tested, but a blood sample taken later revealed she was nearly five times over the limit at .235.
And this comes after she had only had her licence back less than a year after blowing a staggering .255 in 2015, incurring a ban of four years.
At the online Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday Bleasby pleaded guilty to drink driving and failing to give way on March 10 this year.
Details of the accident were not revealed in court.
This was her fourth time she had been nabbed drunk in the driver’s seat, having also been caught in 2000 and 2006.
From her home she told the court she was unemployed and was taking steps to combat her alcohol abuse and get treatment for mental health concerns.
Magistrate Julian Ayres blasted Bleasby for her arrogance when it came to drinking and then driving.
“This is the fourth (time) in 20 years,” Mr Ayres said.
“This driving episode was extremely concerning; you caused a collision due to your inability to control a motor vehicle (due to being drunk).
“This is the second significant driving matter involving intoxication in a reasonably short period of time.”
He said he accepted March 10 was a difficult day for her as it was the anniversary of the tragic death of her daughter, but that was no excuse to risk the safety of the community.
“I understand why you were unable to control your emotions,” he said.
“The stress of that day was not the issue, it is the drinking that is the problem.”
Bleasby was convicted and put on an 18-month community corrections order with conditions she undertake alcohol and mental health counselling and complete a road trauma awareness course.
She was disqualified from driving for five years and fined $300.
