Mornington burglaries: ‘Goldilocks’ burglars on crime spree slept in mum’s bed, ate boy’s ice cream

A mum says she feels so violated after two ‘Goldilocks’ burglars slept in her bed and ate food — including her son’s ice-creams — she has had to move from her Mt Eliza home. And one of the suspects is linked to a recent violent carjacking.

A Mt Eliza mum and her son have been forced to seek refuge after their home was broken into twice in one week by two “Goldilocks” burglars who slept in their beds and ate their food.

Jessica Swann said she felt her safety was compromised and privacy violated after the two burglaries at her Watts Parade home last month.

The Leader can also reveal one of the suspects linked to her burglary may have also been involved in an alleged attempted carjacking at a Frankston service station last month.

Ms Swann said the last straw came after she arrived home to find the burglars had slept in her bed and eaten food including her son’s Maltesers ice-creams.

The burglars feasted on biscuits, chips, stole half empty perfume bottles and linen, stuck sheets up on the windows, moved her washing machine and left discarded ice-cream wrappers strewn throughout the house.

“I walked through the house and was like what the f*** were they doing,” Ms Swann said.

“We’re conditioned to expect expensive items like jewellery get stolen but we’re not accustomed to ice-creams being eaten and your bed being slept in.

“Talk about the Goldilocks experience.”

Ms Swann, who also had passports, her computer, jewellery, paintings and some cherished antique statues stolen, said she had to leave her rented home to a temporary location after the second burglary.

She said she would get rid of her bed.

“How can I sleep in it anymore?” she said

“We couldn’t stay at that house after what they did. It’s not so much about stuff being taken but the eerie feeling the house is being watched and the violation and invasion of privacy and property.”

Ms Swann’s home was one of several burgled during a recent spate of break-ins and burglaries at wealthy homes in Mount Eliza and other parts of the Mornington Peninsula.

It’s understood some of the burgled Mount Eliza homes were on Marathon Drive, Jacksons Ave, Glen Shian Drive, Koornalla Cres and Walkers Rd.

Mornington police detective Senior Sergeant Miro Majstorovic said police investigated the possibility that many of the burglaries were linked.

It’s believed a suspect linked to the burglaries may have been involved in the alleged attempted carjacking of elderly man Jason, who did not wish to use his surname, at a Frankston service station on September 17.

Jason was whacked over the head with a handgun at the Nepean Hwy Caltex on September 17.

Jason, from Frankston South, was walking to his car at the Caltex service station on Nepean Highway when he was approached by the suspect allegedly armed with a handgun about 9.40pm.

Two men were arrested in Mornington just after 11.30pm on September 26 following a police investigation.
