‘lucky to be alive’: victim stabbed in neck during spate of Frankston knife attacks

A man lucky to be alive after being slashed in the neck is one of three stabbing victims attacked in Frankston in the past fortnight.

The 38-year-old victim was rushed to the Alfred after he was allegedly stabbed by a friend at a McAlister St home about 11pm on August 31.

It’s understood, the man and his alleged attacker, a 30-year-old Frankston man, had been arguing over a debt when the dispute turned bloody.

Police attended and arrested the suspect who was charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and assault with a weapon.

He was remanded to face court at a later date.

The victim received a 5cm cut to his neck and stayed in hospital overnight but was later released.

Frankston detective Leading Senior Constable Helen Vanzetta said the victim was “very lucky”.

“The knife just missed the jugular so it could’ve been a lot worse,” she said.

“We might not be here talking about a stabbing.”

The attack was followed less than 24 hours later by a neighbourly dispute which also turned bloody.

A fight broke out between two men on the communal driveway of a Frank St block of units about 8pm on September 1.

The 23-year-old victim was struck in the head with a bat and then stabbed twice in the back.

He was rushed to the Alfred with a punctured lung.

His 29-year-old alleged attacker was arrested and charged with intentionally causing injury.

He was bailed to face court at a later date.

Another dispute between neighbours turned bloody after a 27-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed his 42-year-old neighbour just after 2pm on August 23.

Police were called to a Burns St apartment after reports a man had been stabbed in the forearm.

Police recovered a knife at the scene.

It’s understood, the two men had been in a dispute for some time.

The suspect was charged with aggravated burglary with an offensive weapon. He was remanded to face court at a later date.

The victim sustained minor injuries.
