A five-year-old boy has ended up in hospital after a car he was travelling in was sideswiped by a Commodore sedan with stolen number plates, with its driver remaining on the run. Plus, see what else is happening in your area.

Police are searching for the driver of a Commodore sedan that sideswiped another car, leaving a five-year-old boy and a man in hospital.

They are also searching for a bean bag thief and attended a neighbourly dispute turned bloody and a major drug bust

NARRE WARREN SOUTH

A man allegedly stole a bean bag from a Narre Warren South shopping centre. Police allege the man entered the centre and removed an orange bean bag from the community seating area on August 4. Police are looking for a caucasian man with dark hair and goatee beard in relation to the incident.

CRANBOURNE EAST

A motorist has had their car impounded for drug-driving and driving with a disqualified licence. Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol police pulled over a car on Central Parkway in Cranbourne East just after 12am on August 22. The driver returned a positive drug test and the vehicle was impounded at a cost of $1038. The driver will be charged for drug-driving and other traffic offences.

NARRE WARREN

A man was flown to hospital after a serious accident in Narre Warren on August 29. The man became trapped in a vehicle after a car and truck crashed into each other about 6.20am. He suffered leg injuries.

DOVETON

A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a suspected hit-run in Doveton on August 25. Police believe a Commodore sedan with stolen number plates crashed on Power Rd just after 3.30pm. Investigators were told the vehicle had been seen driving erratically before side swiping another vehicle, losing control and hitting a tree. The male driver was picked up by someone driving an Audi, which clipped a pedestrian as it was leaving the scene. The occupants of the vehicle that was side swiped, a 22-year-old man and a five-year-old boy, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. An Audi, believed to be the one involved, was located on fire in Ashwood a short time later.

GREATER DANDENONG

DANDENONG

A 38-year-old Dandenong man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after two men were found with injuries at a vacant Dandenong property early on August 23. Police and emergency services arrived at the Pickett St den about 12.45am. A 48-year-old Dandenong man was treated at the scene but died. The second victim, a 37-year-old Dandenong man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injures. All parties involved in the incident were known to each other. A woman was also arrested at the same address for matters unrelated to the stabbing. According to police, the owners of the Pickett St property have secured the premises and it has been approved for demolition in the near future. The man faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody until he faces court again on January 10.

KEYSBOROUGH/ENDEAVOUR HILLS

Six people have been arrested as part of a 10-month police operation into drug trafficking in the Springvale area. The Southern Metro Division 3 Divisional Response Unit raided four homes in Keysborough, Springvale, Noble Park North and Endeavour Hills on August 22. Police seized “substances” alleged to be meth and cocaine, and large quantities of cash and a pill press. Four people were charged with various offences, including drug trafficking and possess the proceeds of crime. Two people were released pending further inquiries.

DANDENONG

Two people have been arrested over an alleged robbery at Dandenong railway station on August 21. A police spokesman they were “grateful for the assistance received from witnesses” which enabled a “speedy arrest”.

KINGSTON AND BAYSIDE

HEATHERTON

A learner motorcyclist was allegedly detected speeding and drink riding in Heatherton on August 28. Moorabbin Highway Patrol clocked the motorcycle travelling at 139km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Dingley Bypass just after 11pm. The 19-year-old rider allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.085. His motorcycle was immediately impounded for 30 days at a cost of $950. The Clayton South teen is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and speeding offences.

FRANKSTON

SEAFORD

Thieves have made off with two collectable and valuable pinball machines after a burglary at a Seaford home on July 6. A highly sought-after collector’s Addams Family themed machine and a Playboy themed machine were both stolen. Together the machines are worth about $20,000. According to police, both machines are “heavy” and “would have required at least two people to help manoeuvre them out of the property and into a van”.

FRANKSTON/MORNINGTON PENINSULA

Frankston and Mornington police were out in force for last week’s “National Day of Action” on August 27. According to police the operation was a direct response to the “horror year which is taking place on Australian roads”. An alcohol-drug testing site was set up in Hastings which tested 321 drivers, with one returning a positive result for drugs. Other sites were also set up at random locations throughout the day as units conducted mobile and stationary speed checks on various roads. Thirteen people have lost their lives on Frankston and Mornington Peninsula roads so far this year.

FRANKSTON

A dispute between neighbours turned bloody after a 27-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed his 42-year-old neighbour just after 2pm on August 23. Police were called to a Burns St apartment after reports a man had been stabbed in the forearm. Police recovered a knife at the scene. It’s understood the two men had been in a dispute for some time. The suspect was charged with aggravated burglary with an offensive weapon. He was remanded to face court at a later date. The victim suffered minor injuries.

MORNINGTON PENINSULA

MORNINGTON

A person was found dead after a fire in Mornington on August 23. Emergency services responded to the Carramar St blaze about 12am. The fire spread to a neighbouring house and caused damage to the garage. The occupants from the second home were safely evacuated. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

SOMERVILLE

Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy in relation to an alleged aggravated burglary in Somerville on August 26. The boy was charged and bailed to face a children’s court at a later date.
