A violent Dandenong carjacker choked, punched and kicked his victims during a wild crime spree in Melbourne southeast.

Imrei approached his first victim’s car at 12.30pm on September 1, 2023 as the man was driving into an underground car park in Noble Park.

Imrei told the victim to get out of his car, before he threatened to kill him.

When the victim refused to give up his keys, Imrei reached through the car window and choked the man, ripped his jacket then punched and kicked him.

Imrei walked away without the car.

Ten minutes later he failed to open another nearby car, before he approached a second victim in an alleyway.

He demanded the man’s car keys and when he refused Imrei pulled out an imitation firearm and threatened the victim, yelling “Give me your keys, you dog,”

The victim pushed the plastic gun away and Imrei walked away.

Imrei then went to a 7-Eleven carpark and approached the car window of another victim.

When the victim refused to hand over his car, Imrei slapped his face with the imitation handgun before opening the door.

The victim got out and Imrei drove away with his car, which he later dumped.

When police caught up with Imrei at 1.15pm, he resisted arrest and OC spray was used to subdue him before he could be handcuffed

Judge Patricia Riddell said this was a “concerning episode of offending” that had “no real motive”.

She sentenced Imrei to a maximum sentence of six years and three months.
