A 19-year-old carpentry apprentice has been busted filming himself weighing and packing 14 grams of ketamine to sell to his mates.

Will Fitzsimmons, 19, fronted the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to trafficking ketamine.

Fitzsimmons was busted with 14 grams of ketamine, electronic scales, deal bags and more than $500 in cash when police pulled over the car he was in on September 29.

The party drug rising in popularity in Melbourne

Police spotted Fitzsimmons and his mate acting nervously and moving items near the centre console after they pulled over their car in Ferntree Gully.

When officers searched the men and the car they found the drugs and dealing equipment.

Fitzsimmons was taken to the Knox police station where he made full admissions to buying the ketamine, which had a street value of $950, in order to sell to his mates.

Police also uncovered videos Fitzsimmons had filmed on his phone which showed him weighing and packing a bowl of crystalline ketamine.

Fitzsimmons was fined and sentenced without conviction to a 12-month good behaviour bond after a stern warning about the negative effects of drugs by the magistrate.
