A boozed-up brute pushed his on-again off-again partner, charged at her male mate with a knife and stabbed walls, a court has heard.
Jordan Uhlhorn went ballistic after their boozy night turned sour, picking up a blade and scaring the woman and her housemate.
The petrified pair hid in a bathroom and called police who quickly came and arrested the blotto brute.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to assaults and criminal damage charges at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The court heard on the evening of September 25 last year Uhlhorn went to the Crib Point home where his sometimes girlfriend lived and they began drinking.
The woman’s housemate came home and he joined their partying, with the trio playing cards and continuing to consume alcohol.
At 1am Uhlhorn started to abuse the housemate, and was asked to leave.
But he didn’t want to go, so pushed the woman in the chest and walked into the kitchen.
He picked up a knife and stabbed the walls, while the housemate and woman ran into a bathroom to escape the mayhem.
When they left the bathroom Uhlhorn lunged at them with the blade but they managed to get past him and run into the driveway.
Officers arrived and arrested him, but he was too inebriated to be interviewed and spent the rest of the night sobering up in the cop shop drunk tank.
Defence lawyer Lucy Jukes said Uhlhorn was normally a social drinker who didn’t have an alcohol problem, but he had seriously over-imbibed on this occasion.
“He did take it too far that night in regards to his intoxication level,” she said.
She said he was now happily working and living in Glenorchy in country Victoria.
Magistrate Suzette Dootjes said the victims would have been extremely scared for their safety.
“Obviously alcohol played a large part in the offending,” Ms Dootjes said.
“You were aggressive, and the fact is you had a knife as well and you threatened them with it.
“They must have been terrified, it would have been very frightening for both of them.”
She said she accepted Uhlhorn was dismayed at his actions, that he had genuine remorse and had strong rehabilitation prospects.
He was convicted and placed on a 12-month community corrections order with 100 hours of unpaid work.
