Shane Blume: Vigilante threatened to kill pub pal, went to get KFC

Slashed, sloshed: A cranky crim told a booze buddy he’ll kill him, before staggering off down the street to get some fried chicken.

Shane Blume threatened to kill one of his pub pals and smashed up his house in a drunken vigilante-style attack.

A plastered thug who told a drinking mate he was going to kill him as revenge for being attacked earlier the same day has been jailed.

Shane Andrew Blume went to the man’s home, threatened him and threw rocks through his windows before staggering off down the street to get some fried chicken.

The unemployed Frankston 50-year-old, who has a long rap sheet dating back three decades, also stole stuff from Bunnings and left the scene of an accident after crashing into a parked car.

He pleaded guilty to threat to kill, affray, criminal damage, driving and shoplifting charges at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard at 8pm on January 24 this year Blume and an accomplice went to a Frankston house where the victim and his partner lived.

He kicked at the door, yelling they were “dogs” and they should come outside.

Blume then shouted “You’re all dead, wait till I see you in the street” before hurling large rocks through three windows.

The victim and the partner were scared for their lives and called police, while Blume continually kicked at the flyscreen door.

He had worked up an appetite and walked off down the road to a KFC, where police then found him.

Blume denied making threats, saying he didn’t know the victim and he had drunk too much to remember.

Defence lawyer Andrew Bayliss said there had been “some bad blood” between Blume and the other man, who he in fact did know as they were pub pals, earlier that day.

He said his client told him he was “slashed with a sharp instrument” by the victim but didn’t want to make a complaint and decided to “take the law into his own hands”.

He said “in the cold hard light of day he knows he should have gone to police”, but unfortunately he didn’t do that and while drunk he took his own form of retribution.

“He does tend to get himself in a bit of trouble after having a few Wild Turkeys,” Mr Bayliss said.

Magistrate Timothy Gattuso said Blume had been “getting himself into trouble” for a very long time.

“This is vigilante-style offending,” Mr Gattuso said.

“He may have had some gripe, but they (the victims) were terrified, it was no doubt a terrifying experience.

“Even if there was some prior incident, his response was completely unacceptable.”

Blume was jailed for four months, minus 42 days he has already served, fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for four months.
