A repeat offender found with a treasure trove of stolen goods has fronted court from prison after being arrested inside a stolen luxury car.

Jack Pattison, 21, appeared in Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on June 19 via video link, pleading guilty to handling stolen goods, possession of a fake ID and possessing illicit substances.

Already in custody for other matters, Pattison appeared on Monday to face the music after being caught with a haul of stolen goods and a stolen luxury car.

Police arrested Pattison from a shopping centre car park on January 7, where he was found with a co-accused in possession of a stolen Range Rover and a stolen Tommy Hilfiger bag containing numerous stolen items, $300 of counterfeit cash and a fake Victorian ID.

The Tommy Hilfiger bag contained two Tommy Hilfiger shirts with security tags still on then, tracksuit pants and a white long sleeve top from the same brand, also including Pattison’s wallet, which contained a fake VicRoads driver’s licence displaying Pattison’s photo with another person’s details on the ID.

The bag also contained a smaller black Lacoste bag encasing a small foil wrapping with green vegetable matter inside, believed to be cannabis.

Two Nautica cases were also found, with the counterfeit cash inside and an unprescribed amount of Diazepam.

In interviews with police, Pattison claimed nothing was stolen and the Lacoste bag was his recently deceased friend’s.

“Everything in that bag is mine,” he said.

“The Lacoste bag is one of my best mate’s satchels who passed away, I was going to give it to his mum.”

When asked why he had counterfeit money, Pattison said “in case people rinse me”.

Silent on the link on Monday, Pattison listened to Magistrate David Starvaggi’s quick sentence.

“Taking into account your age and prior history, general and specific deterrence, and the fact that you’re already in prison, I’m going to sentence you to an aggregate term of seven days in jail,” he said.

“I’m also fining you $500 with conviction.”

Mr Starvaggi said had it not been for Pattison’s guilty plea, he would have received 10 days in jail with a higher financial penalty.
