A man who allegedly assaulted a cameraman outside a house in Melbourne’s west and later crashed a stolen vehicle while asleep at the wheel has told a magistrate to “go f**k himself”, after his freedom bid was denied.

Josh Snow, 26, appeared in Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on via video link from custody on June 16, asking to be released back into the community.

Mr Snow’s third attempt at bail was not granted, as Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano said he was “not satisfied” that the risk was at an appropriate level for Mr Snow to be released back into the community.

“You’re someone who has a lengthy and significant history of offending while on bail, you’ve failed to comply with bail conditions and orders of the court, you’ve committed offences while on bail, you’ve continued to drive while unlicensed. You’ve admitted to driving in a short period after your release while substance affected, placing yourself and the community at risk,” he said.

“In my view the risks that you pose to the community and the risk that you pose to committing further offence are high, and I’m not satisfied that the risks in this case can be made acceptable.

“Bail is refused.”

Unhappy with the result of his application, Mr Snow began spouting profanities at Mr Caltabiano before the video link was muted.

“Go f**k yourself, you f**king dog,” he said.

“You’re a f**king c**t.”

Mr Snow is facing charges of alleged assault, intentionally causing injury, possessing meth, possessing prescription medication without prescription, possessing GBH, possessing a prohibited weapon, theft of motor vehicle, two charges of dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, driving while disqualified, careless driving and driving while exceeding prescribed concentration of drugs.

Mr Snow allegedly hit Channel 7 cameraman Damien Shine on May 15 on the side of the head, while Mr Shine was filming outside a home in Melton South.

The cameraman was left with non-life threatening injuries.

Mr Snow previously had a bail application denied in Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on May 24.

He told the court he was coming to the “defence of his brother”, whom he believed was in an altercation with the cameraman at the time.

The evening prior, Mr Snow had been seen by police walking in Melton allegedly holding a hammer at about 10.45pm.

Police allegedly found 0.6g of meth in his bum bag at the time.

Mr Snow then found himself in trouble with police again on Wednesday May 24 after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle into a parked car on Bignell Rd, Bentleigh East, having allegedly falling asleep at the wheel.

The court heard Mr Snow admitted to police that he had drifted off, knew the car was stolen and there were drugs present.

Police allegedly found 1g of meth in the car, while Mr Snow allegedly returned a positive test for the substance.

Mr Snow’s matter will return to court on June 21.
