A young drug dealer found by police with a homemade gun has been jailed for 250 days.
As well as the unsophisticated firearm, described as a pen-pistol, the then 20-year-old had other weapons including a baseball bat and a homemade knife.
Searches of his car and home uncovered small bags of ice and cannabis, cash, digital scales, believed to be stolen fishing tackle and a mobile phone full of incriminating drug-dealing text messages.
Kyle Deprazer was also pinged driving while high on ice, driving while suspended and breaching bail and court orders.
Frankston Magistrates’ Court yesterday heard on March 3 last year he was pulled over by police and failed a drug-driving test for ice.
Just 12 days after the intercept his Skye home and car were searched with drugs, money, stolen gear, a baseball bat and a homemade knife found.
His mobile phone uncovered drug information such as prices, amounts, meet up points and times, including one text which said he had “mint as f*** stuff now”.
At around 12.10am on October 8 last year police saw Deprazer at a Frankston McDonalds, searching him and finding ice in his pocket and the homemade gun and more drugs in his satchel.
He was on bail at the time and subject to a curfew, and was arrested and remanded.
Tests by police experts deemed the gun unable to be fired as it was, but with modifications it could have been discharged. No ammunition was found with the weapon.

ICE-ADDICTED DRUG DEALER'S JAIL SPIRAL
In court his defence lawyer said now 21-year-old landscape gardener had a daily drug problem involving three points of ice and 1g of cannabis which had “consumed his life”, and jail had been a “sobering experience for him”.
Magistrate Julian Ayres said Deprazer had already spent a significant period of time in jail — nearly eight months — which was a severe penalty for someone so young.
He said he had his mother’s support and was hopeful that he wouldn’t come back before the courts.
Deprazer was jailed for 250 days, minus 234 days he has already served. Upon release he must do an extended community corrections order with drug counselling.
He was also fined $1000 and lost his driving licence for one year.
