A Melbourne concreter has been told to expect jail after he viciously assaulted two women, causing thousands of dollars of dental damage to one and lasting emotional pain.
Daniel Innocca, 20, appeared in the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to a host of charges, including assaulting an emergency worker.
The Sommerville man had been out drinking when he got into an argument with a friend on the way home.
The argument escalated and Innocca began punching the victim in the head and choking her, before she managed to escape and get help.
Another woman came to her aid but Innocca grabbed the woman by her jumper and punched the bottom of her jaw, causing the woman’s veneers to fall out.
The first woman required treatment at hospital for her injuries and the estimated dental bill for the second woman was more than $8000.
The court heard when police attended the scene of the assault Innocca charged at them, forcing them to pepper spray him.
Victim impact statements read out in court detailed the trauma the victims experienced.
“There hasn’t been a day since that I haven’t cried,” one of the statements read.
“I have been robbed of happiness.”
Mr James Dowlsey for Innocca said the behaviour was “out of character” and despite a prior for a violence related matter it wasn’t against a woman.
Magistrate Charles Tan said he would have Innocca assessed for a community corrections order but that he was looking at jail time.
“This is confronting behavior,” he said.
