Fire crews battle grass fire near the Princes Freeway in Nar Nar Goon

Firefighters are battling a grass fire near the Princess Freeway with smoke covering the road, reducing visibility.

14 CFA vehicles called to Nar Nar Goon grass fire

CFA crews are battling a grass fire on the side of a busy freeway on the southeastern outskirts of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Oakview Lane, near the Princes Freeway, Nar Nar Goon about 11am on Wednesday.

A CFA spokesman said 14 CFA vehicles responded to the blaze.

“Crews arrived to find the fire spreading and worked quickly to contain it,” the spokesman said.

The incident was declared under control at 11.20am and safe at 12.11pm.
