Dylan Wyatt allegedly bragged about torturing and bashing Frankston dance music fan Matthew Warrington

A man charged with the brutal murder of a Frankston dance music fan allegedly claimed his victim was “a pedo” and passed around grisly polaroids of a hogtied man with his head caved in.

A Seaford father accused of murdering a Frankston dance music fan allegedly showed his mate gruesome photos of a man who had been tied up and savagely beaten.

Dylan Wyatt fronted Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday for the second day of a committal hearing to determine if he and two others – Kasha McIver and Brendan Dalton – should stand trial for the murder of Matthew Warrington in July 2023.

Mr Wyatt’s former house mate Ian Derricks told the court that his friend had shown up “hungry and homeless” at his Seaford house in mid-July, 2023, looking for a place to stay.

Over the next few days Mr Wyatt would allegedly steal an extendible baton from Mr Derricks and use it to brutally bash Mr Warrington.

The court heard on Monday that Mr Wyatt had tortured Mr Warrington with acid and that his girlfriend Kasha McIver had then allegedly strangled him with a piece of rope.

The court was told the pair then cut off Mr Warrington’s legs below the knees as part of an initial plan to “fold” Mr Warrington and put him in a wheelie bin.

Mr Warrington’s remains were found alongside the Glen Waverley train line on July 21, 2023.

The grisly discovery was made three days after emergency services were called to a suspicious fire at the convicted drug dealer’s house only 500m away on Binalong Ave, Chadstone.

Mr Derricks told the court on Tuesday that Mr Wyatt had “glorified” Mr Warrington’s death and allegedly showed him polaroids of a mutilated man.

“He seemed gloating and excited,” Mr Derricks said.

“He said he killed him because he was a pedophile. He said he had killed 18 pedophiles.

“He wasn’t making a lot of sense.”

The court heard Mr Derricks later told police that Mr Wyatt had said to him: “I got the prick. We tortured him. We used your baton. It works.”

Another witness Robert Hill told the court that while he was staying at the Seaford house in July, 2023 Mr Wyatt had thrown him an object wrapped in plastic.

“He said ‘I got a present for you’,” Mr Hill said.

The gift was a human finger Mr Hill believed belonged to the man Mr Wyatt allegedly killed.

Mr Hill told the court that Mr Derricks’ partner Rhonda Gilligan, who also lived at the Seaford house, had received some photos on her phone from Mr Wyatt’s phone.

He understood the photos were similar to the polaroids he had been shown.

“I was sitting there when (Ms Gilligan) received them and saw her horrified look,” he said.

Mr Hill said he later briefly saw the images when he helped Ms Gilligan move them to a private folder after she was told by police not to delete the pictures.

He also told the court that he had overheard Mr Wyatt and Ms McIver talking about torturing someone.

When interviewed by police in August 2023 Mr Hill said he heard the pair discussing going to the Chadstone house with acid and attacking someone.

“We’ll f*** him up and get money out of him,” he told police Mr Wyatt said.

At the time Mr Hill thought the conversation was the “funniest thing you ever heard” and likened it to a Benny Hill skit.

“It just didn’t sound right,” he told the court.

The hearing will continue on Wednesday.
