Drug-addicted Chelsea Heights thief Holly Such back stealing from cars days after being bailed

A Chelsea Heights drug-addict was caught using bank cards she had stolen from cars to buy ciggies and lollies. She was lucky to be granted bail after 16 days inside, but just 8 days later she was back to her crooked ways.

A heroin and ice-addicted, whisky-swilling thief who went on another stealing spree just eight days after she had been given bail has again faced court.

Holly Such had been remanded in custody on a range of thefts and deceptions, and spent 16 days in custody before being bailed to stay at her mum’s Chelsea Heights home.

But instead of behaving the 28-year-old went straight back to her drug-using mates and continued to break into cars.

Every day she was taking .5g of heroin and .5g of ice, as well as knocking back half a bottle of whisky.

Such, who has a 16-page rap sheet, mostly for theft-related offences, pleaded guilty to another swag of stealing-related crimes at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The court heard she broke into several cars in Noble Park, Springvale and Dandenong in June, July and August to nick bank cards, cash and wallets.

She would then use the cards to pay for taxis and buy cigarettes, gift cards and even lollies.

Such was also caught at the Kmart store at Parkmore in Keysborough trying to use two stolen credit cards.

The cards had been taken just minutes before from a vehicle parked in the same shopping centre car park.

She was first remanded on July 27, spending 16 days — including 14 days in quarantine — in custody.

She was then bailed on August 12 only to go back within days to her crooked ways.

On August 20 she was nabbed breaking into cars parked in Springvale and put back behind bars.

Her defence lawyer told the court Such had mental health issues, which had not yet been properly diagnosed, and required treatment.

She said she had spent a total of 41 days in custody and should be released on time served to do an inpatient hospital assessment.

She said her client had twice had to do quarantine in isolation while on remand, and prison life was particularly onerous for her.

Magistrate Andrew Halse said Such should have known what would happen if she continued to steal.

“She got bailed and decided to go and commit further offences and ended up back in custody again,” Mr Halse said.

He sent her to be assessed for a community corrections order and remanded her for sentencing on September 29.
