The drug addict and thief, who had only been out of jail for a month, was spotted running from near a stolen car.

The court heard about 5am on September 24 this year police came across a stolen car parked in Oak Avenue, Doveton with the driver’s door open and a drill, jackhammer and stolen bank cards inside.
They heard a noise and saw Yilmaz jumping over fences, before finding him under a car parked in a nearby street.
When they searched him they found 5g of ice, a knife and keys to two cars.
Yilmaz had been released from jail in August to serve a community corrections order but within 48 hours he had absconded from where he was meant to be staying and had been on the run for a month.
Last year he featured in a Leader ‘Casey Most Wanted’ article, as police had warrants out for his arrest over other car thefts and breach crimes.

His lawyer told the court he had a chronic ice problem which developed after the breakup of his marriage.
Magistrate Tara Hartnett warned Yilmaz that this “was the end of the line for him” and without solving his drug problem he faced continual stints behind bars.
Yilmaz was sentenced to 60 days jail, minus the 49 days he has already served, and upon release must complete a 12-month community corrections order involving residential drug treatment.
