An alleged drunk driver has been pulled from his car and is accused of driving at more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit following a crash in Springvale.

A 37-year-old Dandenong man was driving a white Nissan El Grande with four other passengers when he allegedly crashed into another car at the intersection of Westall and Centre roads on Sunday, April 18 at 10pm.

The man failed to stop and continued driving along Centre Rd, and was followed by witnesses concerned about his ability to drive.

He eventually stopped the car at the intersection of Centre and Springvale roads, where witnesses pulled him out and waited for police to arrive.

Officers breath-tested the Dandenong man where he recorded an alleged blood alcohol reading of .223.

Police immediately suspended the Dandenong man’s driver’s license and impounded his car for 30 days at a cost of $950.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving, driving under the influence and other traffic related offences.

No one was injured as a result of the earlier crash.
