A cult doughnut shop has reinvented a classic sweet treat to celebrate Australia Day.
Daniel’s Donuts in Springvale has turned the traditional Aussie lamington into a new sugary sensation for the national holiday, with chocolate and strawberry jam-filled flavours.
Owner Daniel Bartalotta invited doughnut lovers to come along and try the new creations.
“Daniel’s Donuts is an Aussie family business who makes fresh doughnuts daily and we look forward to celebrating this day with everyone,” Mr Bartalotta said.
“In addition to our doughnuts we have milkshakes, coffee and pies.”
Last year the store added additional vegan flavours, including jam, original glazed, chocolate custard, apple custard, cream and jam, cinnamon and peanut butter and jam.
Mr Bartalotta said the doughnuts took about five hours to make, with people travelling from across the country to try his whole range.
“We use high-end ingredients and even though they take longer to cook — we don’t charge extra for them.”
