A gunman is on the run after he hid at a primary school and fired eight shots at a Dandenong man who was leaving his house to go to work.

A Victoria Police spokesman said a man was walking out of a William Ave property when he heard shots fired around 5.20am on March 5.

It’s believed the gunman was hiding at Dandenong South Primary School before he ambushed the man and fired eight gunshots.

All shots missed the 28-year-old victim who was left uninjured in the crossfire.

Sources have told Leader that the victim is a part owner of a fruit and vegetable stall at Dandenong Market.

The source said the gunman and victim were known to each other and have been feuding for some time.

“It’s still unresolved and everyone is worrying it will happen again,” they said.

It is unclear what sparked the feud.

Investigations remain ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
