Dandenong Magistrates’ Court: Karlee Oliver uses dating sites to steal mens cars

A Dandenong heartbreaker used online dating sites to hook her claws into unsuspecting single blokes so she could make off with her favourite make of car — the Holden Commodore.

Karlee Oliver leaves Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday where she pleaded guilty to multiple charges of car theft and refusing to provide a sample of oral fluid.

A Melbourne femme fatale has left a trail of broken hearts — and stolen Holden Commodores — in her wake during a period of “bizarre offending”.

Karlee Oliver used dating websites to hook up with unsuspecting men from Pakenham to Morwell and lured them into lending her their Commodores that were often found dumped months later.

Oliver, of Dandenong, first struck in August 2019.

The former childcare worker met her mark online and she convinced him to let her use his Holden so she could get to Morwell.

When Oliver failed to return, her victim called and texted and she eventually returned the car, only to sneak back and steal the Commodorer hours later using a key she had found in the glovebox.

The car was later seen being driven by two men in Frankston.

In October of the same year, Oliver repeated her offending, and conned a man she had met online into lending her his Commodore by turning up at his workplace and asking to borrow the car because she had been bitten by a dog and needed to see a doctor.

When the man called asking for the return of his car she threatened she would drive it “into a lake”.

The car was later found dumped in Morwell.

To prove three times a charm, Oliver again hit the dating sites several months later and again found a willing dupe. The victim lent her his Commodore so she could move some things out of her house.

She never returned and the car was found by police months later.

On Friday, Oliver faced Dandenong Magistrates’ Court where she pleaded guilty to a string of offences, including multiple charges of car theft.

Kimberly Hoang, acting for Oliver, told the court the “bizarre offending” occurred in the context of Oliver being in the “depths” of an ice addiction and her life had “gone of track” after suffering post-natal depression.

Magistrate Gregory Connellan ordered Oliver be assessed for a community corrections order.

“Nothing I have seen or heard today suggests you have any remorse for what you did,” he said to her.

“You need to get real about it or it’s game over.”
