Just two Mornington Peninsula postcodes still have active coronavirus cases as the region races towards being virus free.

According to the latest data from the Department of Health and Human Services Mornington has three active cases and Main Ridge has a single infection.

The total of four puts the region even closer to being the first Melbourne LGA to eradicate COVID-19 altogether.

Knox is leading the charge with just three cases while Manningham, Maroondah and Nillumbik all have four cases.

There are now more than 60 Victorian metro postal areas that are virus free.

However, not all LGAs are performing as well as Mornington Peninsula with neighbouring Casey home to another spike overnight on Friday.

Hallam had eight new cases bring the LGAs total to 78 and keeping Casey near the top of the list of worst hit areas.

Frankston was looking a lot healthier with just 14 active cases across the municipality.

Across Victoria there were 37 new cases and six deaths announced in the past 24 hours to Saturday.
