The tragic early death of a beloved Mornington woman has left her family reeling and her two children without their mum.
Described as “wildly charismatic”, Emily Moss, 40, tragically died on March 27 and left a gaping hole in the lives of her family and loved ones.
Emily’s mum Christina Moss said her daughter “loved life” and was a “great mum” to her two children — Arlo, 18 months old, and Layla, four months old.
“It was an absolute blessing for her to become a mum, it was a little bit later on in life and was something she didn’t expect,” Ms Moss said.
“When her children did arrive, it was amazing – she shone with them.”
Nicknamed “Mimi” as a child, Ms Moss described Emily as a “smart, intelligent, beautiful girl”, with a smile that could “light up any room”.
“She could move in different circles, she saw the fun in everything,” she said.
“She made friends quickly, had a great wit and a fantastic laugh — it was contagious.”
Emily’s warmth and zest for life has drawn the aid of the Mornington community, with an online fundraiser garnering nearly $10,000 in just four days.
Ms Moss said the funds will be used to assist in a memorial for Emily, as well as being put towards her children’s future.
“There’s been a lot of family and friends involved,” Ms Moss said.
“It’s been amazing that the community we live in has been so supportive.
“They’ve been reaching out with offers of condolences, flowers, food galore — we can’t thank all the friends and family enough for everything they’ve done so far.”
Ms Moss said the children “deserved a good start in life”, were surrounded by family and were very loved.
At the time of writing, the fundraiser had raised $9855.
