Chelsea Heights thief Holly Such jailed for another crime spree committed days after being bailed

When a Chelsea Heights thief was bailed to her mum’s home she settled into a daily diet of half a gram each of heroin and ice, plus half a bottle of whisky — and kept breaking into cars. But she will still be out of jail again by next week.

Holly Such has been jailed for another theft-related crime spree.

A serial stealer who went on another thieving spree just days after she was given bail has been jailed.

Holly Such was given two months behind bars for her one-woman crime wave involving drugs, deceptions and breaking into cars.

But with 56 days already served, the 28-year-old will be free in a matter of days.

In July and August the heroin and ice addict spent 16 days in custody before being bailed to stay at her mum’s Chelsea Heights home.

But when she was released she went straight back to her criminal ways.

Every day she was taking .5g of heroin and .5g of ice, as well as knocking back half a bottle of whisky.

Such appeared at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court via video link on Tuesday for sentencing after pleading guilty to 20 charges earlier this month.

The court heard she broke into several cars in Noble Park, Springvale and Dandenong in June, July and August to nick bank cards, cash and wallets.

She would then use the cards to pay for taxis and buy cigarettes, gift cards and lollies.

She was also caught at the Kmart store at Parkmore in Keysborough trying to use two stolen credit cards which had been taken just minutes before from a vehicle in the centre car park.

Such, who has an 11-page rap sheet mostly for theft-related offences, was first remanded on July 27, spending 16 days — including 14 days in quarantine — in custody.

She was bailed on August 12 only to go back to her crooked habits, being nabbed on August 20 breaking into cars parked in Springvale.

Her defence lawyer said Such had drug and mental health issues and required treatment for both.

She said she had to do custody quarantine twice, totalling 28 days of isolation, thereby making her time on remand far more onerous.

Magistrate Andrew Halse said Such had an extensive criminal history for similar offending which was related to her significant drug abuse problems dating back many years.

He said she required assistance and oversight by corrections, telling her she would be wise to take up their support otherwise she faced continued and longer periods of imprisonment.

She was sentenced to 60 days in jail and must do a 12-month community corrections order, with 100 hours of unpaid work and drug treatment, upon release.
