Casey police investigate Cranbourne North burglary at South Gippsland Hwy store after youths attempt cigarette steal

Teens plotting to steal cigarettes were smoked out of a shop in Melbourne’s southeast after triggering the security system and leaving empty-handed.

Teens were smoked out of a Melbourne store after they smashed the front window and reached for cigarettes, triggering the security system.

Casey detectives are investigating a Cranbourne North burglary on March 27 after three males smashed their way into a shop with a hammer on the South Gippsland Hwy.

Police say the youths gained access to the store about 10.50pm and attempted to access cigarette cupboards before one of them attempted to cut wires at the front counter.

The smoke security system activated, and the three teens fled the scene empty-handed.

No one was inside the store at the time of the incident.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of three males they believe may be able to assist with their investigations.
