Coronavirus by region: Positive signs for Frankston as case numbers steady

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Frankston has steadied with the total now sitting at just one. And overnight Victoria’s total number of positive cases increased by 60.

There are promising signs for Frankston residents amid the coronavirus outbreak with just one active case recorded across the region.

No more people tested positive to the deadly disease overnight, with the area’s total sitting at one active case behind hard-hit areas including Hume on 64 and Brimbank on 36.

It comes as the state’s total increased by 60, with four cases reclassified due to duplications.

There has been 41 cases recorded the City of Frankston since the virus hit Australian shores, next to nearby municipalities Mornington Peninsula (63 cases) Casey (106) Kingston (41) and Greater Dandenong (27).

There are no active cases along the Mornington Peninsula however 20 have been recorded in Casey.

The fresh data comes as Frankston City Council introduces a new live chat service, enabling residents to get in contact with customer support from the comfort of their home during self isolation.

“We’ve fast-tracked this service to make it easier and safer for residents to contact us at a

time when practising social distancing is so important,” Mayor Cr Sandra Mayer said.

don’t want our community to feel they need to visit council in person unnecessarily.
