A gunman is on the run following a terrifying armed robbery at Aldi Carrum Downs.
Workers were left “shaken” after a man stormed the Frankston-Dandenong Rd store and threatened them with a handgun just after 12.30pm on Tuesday.
A Victoria Police spokesman told the Leader the man was described as in his 20s and was wearing an orange high vis top with a black face mask.
“Frankston crime investigation unit detectives are investigating following an armed robbery in Carrum Downs on Tuesday afternoon,” the spokesman said.
“Investigators have been told a man armed with a handgun held up a supermarket on Frankston-Dandenong Road about 12.35pm.
“Police are looking for a man who is perceived to be caucasian, in his 20s and was wearing an orange high vis top and black face mask.
“No one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.”
Concerned Carrum Downs residents took to the Frankston Noticeboard Facebook page to express their shock after witnessing dozens of police plus the dog squad swarming the area.
“There was a robbery with a gun (at Aldi),” one woman said.
“(A worker) is shaken but she’ll be OK.”
