Two American fast-food chains are set to open in Beaconsfield as part of a multimillion-dollar development.

Cult burger joint Carl’s Jr., Mexican-inspired Taco Bell and a new KFC will be built on the vacant block of land on the corner of Whiteside Rd and Princes Highway.

Carl’s Jr. is famous for its signature Thickburger, made up of a chargrilled Angus beef patty, melted American cheese, tomatoes, red onions, pickles, lettuce, mustard, mayo and ketchup.

Victoria’s first Carl’s Jr. restaurant opened at Westfield Knox in 2018 and has been labelled a huge success.

Cardinia Council Policy, Design and Growth Area planning manager Luke Connell said the development would cost an estimated $7 million.

“In accordance with the Officer Precinct Structure Plan, a planning permit was issued on May 1 2020 for the use and development of the land for a service station, food and drink premises, and convenience restaurants,” Mr Connell said.

“The commencement of development on site is in the hands of the developer.
“Whilst the planning permit has an expiry condition, an application can be made to council to extend the permit commencement date and development completion date.”
