A 13-year-old girl has been left traumatised after an alleged terrifying encounter with a girl gang at a train station in Pakenham.
Distraught mum Shelley Files told Leader her family had been left “devastated” and in shock after her daughter was allegedly set upon, threatened and robbed by a group of six teenage girls at Cardinia Rd train station on Monday, November 23.
“My daughter got off the train and she was approached by six Sudanese girls, they told her if she didn’t unlock her iPhone they were going to bash or kill her,” Ms Files said.
“They actually said ‘we’re going to bash you or kill you’. I just can’t believe they would prey upon a young girl and do this.”
“They also patted her down and searched her, she has been left really traumatised by this, she doesn’t want to leave the house.”
She said her family immediately reported the incident to police.
“The police have been really supportive, but we’re just so angry that this keeps happening in our community.
“It’s absolutely disgusting she will never catch the train again. We hope they’re caught soon as no one deserves to go through this.”
The Leader can also reveal Victoria Police are also investigating another robbery, which allegedly occurred 10 minutes before the incident.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said transit detectives were on the hunt for six teenage girls believed to be involved in two incidents involving a robbery and theft in Pakenham on Monday, November 23.
“Police have been told the group approached a 13-year-old girl who was sitting on the footpath at Cardinia Road Railway Station about 3.40pm,” the spokeswoman said.
“One of the offenders grabbed the victims bag from the ground and searched through it, before stealing an Apple iPhone charger, headphones and portable charger bank.”
The spokeswoman said police believe the same six girls approached their second victim, also a 13-year-old girl, in the pedestrian tunnel underneath the railway station about 3.50pm.
“The group surrounded the victim who was patted down by two of the offenders.”
“The victim was threatened and handed over her iPhone X which was stolen.”
The group are described as African in appearance, about 15-16-years-old, with long dark hair.
Police are investigating the incidents and appeal for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
