A Hollywood blockbuster film starring Liam Neeson is set to be filmed at a surprising location in the heart of Melbourne’s southeast.
A letter seen by Leader, which was sent to several local businesses in the area, said the action thriller Blacklight would be filmed at an indoor play centre, Lollipops Playland, on Elonera Rd in Noble Park from Tuesday, November 10 to Thursday, November 12.
The Leader understands Liam Neeson will also be on set during filming, with the building to be heavily guarded by security.
Written, directed and produced by Ozark co-creator Mark Williams, the $43 million film stars Neeson playing Travis Block, a “troubled off-the-books fixer for the FBI”.
It was revealed on Sunday, the blockbuster would also be filmed at Macedon this week.
The location will represent a trailer park in Maryland.
Blacklight is a huge boost for Victoria’s TV industry, bringing in more than 500 local jobs for cast and crew, and with round the clock security in the area.
Neeson has quarantined in Sydney for two weeks and was arriving in Melbourne at the weekend.
Filming will also start at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre this week, with Jeff’s Shed turned into a backlot.
Lollipops Playland declined to comment.
