The tragic death of a cherished bayside dad has left his family and community in mourning as his battle with a brain tumour came to an end.

Described as a “beautiful person”, David Farrelly, 50, was beloved by friends and family from Melbourne all the way to Ireland.

David’s partner Emily Robb said she had been receiving calls from all over the globe with people offering their condolences.

“He was everyone’s friend,” she said.

“We had such a good life, I don’t know what I’m going to do without him.”

The couple met 10 years ago while working at a resort on Fraser Island, before moving to Melbourne, having a child and creating their life together.

“Nobody ever has a bad word to say about him,” Emily said.

“It’s just been awful.”

Emily said she had been on a “dark path” when she met David, but he had “brought the light out” in her.

“My whole life is different now, I don’t think I’d be this person if I hadn’t met him,” she said.

David — an avid lover of talkback radio and sports — Emily described him as a “larrikin”.

“He was a joker and always such a good guy,” she said.

“I’m thankful I have our son to look at, so I can still see a bit of him.”

A GoFundMe — set up by a family friend — to support Emily and her son through their journey of grief has raised $1165 at the time of writing.

“The community has been reaching out where I live, helping me with my son, sleeping over,” Emily said.

“All the promises (David) made to my son, I’m going to keep them.

“I just want the best for him.”
