A popular teacher and mum of four has died in hospital after a horror crash in Pearcedale.
Devastated loved ones shared their grief on social media after Angie Matthews lost her fight for life over the weekend.
Ms Matthews was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Thursday after her car was allegedly forced onto the wrong side of the road.
Police have been told the Ms Matthews was waiting to turn right from North Rd into Middle Rd about 4.25pm Thursday, November 10, when a car travelling along North Rd allegedly ran into the back of her turning car.
The impact forced the woman’s car onto the wrong side of the road where it was hit by oncoming traffic.
Ms Matthews, who is believed to be in her 40s, is survived by her husband Paul and four children.
“Angie was almost home, but on this occasion, at the wrong place, at the wrong time,” a family member posted on social media.
Ms Matthews had taught at Bayside Christian College and Hillcrest Christian College and John Paul College.
She was preparing to return to John Paul College in 2023 after completing her archaeological studies at La Trobe University.
Former student Courtney Healey described Ms Matthews as “a beautiful and kind person”.
“A beautiful person and an absolutely memorable teacher,” Kasey Twomey said.
“A tragedy, she will be missed.”
“We remember her kindness, positivity and genuine grace,” Chris Porch said.
A Go Fund Me for Ms Matthews’ family has so far raised $4750.
