Accused Melbourne gun crew: Luke Camillo, Luke Gallo, George Angelopoulos, Samuel Poulton

Key players in a suspected Melbourne gunrunning crew are behind bars after a covert police operation allegedly snared firearms, drugs and cash.

An accused Melbourne gunrunning crew has been taken down following a lengthy and covert operation by the police armed crime squad.

Alleged crew player Luke Camillo, 29, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with multiple gun offences.

Camillo and co-accused George Angelopoulos, 31, Luke Gallo, 30, Domenico Fera, 31 and Samuel Poulton, 32, were arrested after police raids across Melbourne in January this year.

Camillo, who was charged with possessing unregistered firearms and a handgun, was allegedly nabbed moving a handgun during an illegal “transaction” at Mordialloc on December 4 last year.

Police also alleged Camillo, of Keysborough, possessed multiple firearms without serial numbers and various suspected stolen firearms.

It’s alleged Camillo also possessed multiple unregistered guns and illegally moved a longarm at Clayton South on January 4.

Angelopoulos and Gallo, both of Clayton South, were also allegedly caught possessing unregistered guns at Mordialloc on December 4.

The pair were also allegedly pinched moving firearms at Clayton South on January 4 and January 13.

Gallo, who was charged with multiple firearm offences, was also allegedly nabbed with cocaine and cash at Clayton South on January 18.

Gallo, who was charged with cultivating cannabis, was also allegedly caught with a firearm, a handgun, ammo, meth, knuckledusters and a suspected stolen camouflaged bolt-action. 22 rifle at Clayton South on November 21.

Poulton, of Rowville, was allegedly caught with unregistered firearms and guns without serial numbers at Clayton South on January 4.

Poulton was also allegedly caught with a double-edged knife, ammo and cultivating cannabis at Rowville on January 18.

Poulton, Camillo, Gallo and Angelopoulos were all charged with disposing of a gun in a “transaction” while not being a licenced firearms dealers.

Fera, of Roxburgh Park, was allegedly caught with meth at Pascoe Vale on January 18.

Fera, who was also charged with numerous firearm offences, was allegedly caught with an imitation firearm and multiple unregistered firearms.

The court heard investigators compiled secret recordings of the accused gun crew while police conducted its covert operation.

Camillo, Gallo, Angelopoulos, Poulton and Fera will all face court at a later date.
