A man in Melbourne’s southeast has been caught driving after being unlicensed for more than four decades.

The 74-year-old Cranbourne South man lost his licence 44 years ago following a drink-driving offence.

Casey highway patrol officers intercepted the man at 10.20am on July 27 on Bradman Dr in Cranbourne West.

After running the man’s number plate through the ANPR system, officers were alerted to the license status of the male driver.

The man is expected to be charged on summons for numerous offences.

Police impounded his car for 30 days at the cost of $1038.
