FORGET your troubles come on get snappy!
Today is #SnapMelbourne Day and Leader Community News is encouraging all Melburnians to get out your camera or phone to snap and share what you love about where you live.
Throughout the day we’ll be posting some reader photos to our rolling social media gallery at snapmelbourne.com.au to capture a snapshot of 24 hours in our beautiful city.
What you snap is up to you — it could be your friends, pets or family, your favourite view, the people who make your neighbourhood come alive, engaging street art, the hustle and bustle of suburban life or the Insta-worthy meals at your favourite cafe.
Just remember to share your pictures on Instagram or Facebook, tag @SnapMelbourne or use the hashtag #SnapMelbourne.
If you are in the CBD today make sure you head over to Queensbridge Square between 11am and 2pm for our free, kid-friendly #SnapMelbourne Pop Up Party.
Eurovision finalist and The X Factor Australia winner Isaiah Firebrace is performing a set and there will be appearances from Melbourne Storm, Melbourne Vixens and Hockey Australia players.
KIIS FM will be doing live crosses from the site for an hour and there will also be a DJ spinning tunes to add to the party atmosphere.
It wouldn’t be Melbourne without food trucks and you’ve got your choice of Dos Diablos, Mini Pancakes, Melbourne Paella and Rai Thai.
To claim a free item, just like your local Leader’s Facebook page and show the like to any of our #SnapMelbourne food trucks.
Canon Collective ambassadors Jay Collier and Neal Walters will also be leading a photography walking tour.
Mr Collier said he loved photographing Melbourne’s vibrant suburbs, such as St Kilda.
“Visit on afternoons or weekends when there is a lot happening and when the light is at its best,” he said.
“Try approaching the many interesting locals or shop owners to perhaps start a portrait series of locals as well as more candid shots of general life in St Kilda that really shows off the vibrant colour and culture that makes St Kilda so unique.
“You will be surprised where striking up a conversation with people can lead you photographically.”
Wherever you are in Melbourne today, whether it’s the CBD or the suburbs, make sure to snap and share photos on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #SnapMelbourne.
