Victoria has gone cheerleading crazy, with so many clubs to choose from competing at an elite level. Check out the list of the top cheerleading clubs in the state.

There has been a boom in competitive cheerleading across the country in recent years, with Victoria leading the charge.

The highly athletic sport of All-Star Cheerleading — originally seen as just a US phenomenon — has been included in the Olympics.

If you’re interested in the sport, whether it be to give it a go yourself or if your child has shown some interest, there’s never been a better time to start with so many cheerleading clubs to choose from, with Leader putting together a list of the cheerleading teams in Victoria.

Outlaws All Stars, Somerville and Bayswater

This club has three cheerleading gyms across the country, with two in Melbourne and one in Queensland, and is undeniably one of the top training facilities for cheerleaders in Australia.

The club was started by Rosemary Sims-James about 20 years ago, who ran a successful dance school that expanded into cheerleading.

Last year, one of the club’s top teams went to compete in the World Cheerleading Championships in Florida, scoring a fifth place.

The club also competed at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) national competition and took out a whopping 16 super national gold medals.

The Bayswater gym is headed up by David and Chantelle James, with both co-owners having competed on the world stage in cheerleading. David was the Team Australia cheerleading team captain for two years, while Chantelle competed at the cheerleading world championships nine times.

The club even has a YouTube channel where it video blogs their training sessions and competition preparation, with more than 6000 subscribers.

Victorian State Cheerleaders, Oakleigh

As one of Melbourne's longest running cheer clubs, Victorian State Cheerleaders has been excelling since 2000.

The club’s rise to success has got it numerous state and national titles along the way.

The club’s two head coaches were both previously part of Team Australia at the International Cheer Union World Championships and have been coaching for more than 20 years each.

The club offers classes for students aged from three to adults and has seven competitive cheer squads.

Most recently, the Vixens squad won a first place prize at the AAASCF national competitions in Queensland last November.

Melbourne Cheer Academy, Box Hill North

This cheerleading club had humble beginnings when it first began operating out of Boroondara Park Primary School in 2007, but has grown massively to compete on the world stage for cheerleading.

The club recently competed at the cheerleader Global Games in Hawaii and the International All Star Federation competition in Florida, taking away a swag of prizes.

It also recently announced a Nike Teamwear partnership, the only cheerleading club in Australia to join with the famous brand.

The school is co-owned by Danelle Cooney and Edward Miles, who have a collective 28 years of cheerleading experience behind them.

Southern Cross Cheer, Northcote and Westmeadows

This club, with two Melbourne gyms, has grown to support more than 250 athletes since 2010.

Offering programs for anyone aged over 4, it has 19 competitive cheerleading teams, with some competing at an elite international level.

The club is co-owned by Eddie Davey and Momoko Hamaguchi, who have a collective 20 years of cheerleading experience between them.

Mr Davey was also selected as the Team Australia co-ed elite head coach for the International Cheer Union world championships this year.

In 2022, the club represented Australia at the competition at took out fifth place.

It also won the top grand champion title at the AASCF state competition.

Bullets All Stars, Dingley Village

This club in Melbourne‘s south has been running since 2011, offering cheerleading programs at competitive, recreational and preschool levels.

Bullets All Stars ethos centres on the club being a family, where everyone can be themselves and make friends.

The club’s most recent achievements on the competitive stage include the grand champion level 1 and level 2 prizes at the AASCF Winterfest and the first top tier gym prize for level one at the state championship competition last year.

In 2022, the club also took out five national championship titles.

Pressure Cheerleading and Dance, Delacombe

Based in regional Victoria, Pressure Cheerleading and Dance trains children and adults of all abilities and ages to compete or enjoy cheerleading or dance recreationally.

The club has run in Ballarat since 2018, with head coach Tara Schmidt leading the way after almost 10 years of experience.

The club is younger, but its teams have already competed on the national stage and it has established itself within the cheerleading community.

Pressure Cheer and Dance also won the Ballarat Begonia Festival business entry for 2023.

Elite All Stars, Oakleigh

Elite All-Stars Cheer and Dance is club in Melbourne’s east, training students from ages four and up in competitive and recreational.

Its ethos is to provide a safe, challenging and fun cheerleading experience for motivated athletes.

The gym is run by Lauren Bird, who worked as a professional dancer for many years before opening a cheerleading and dance gym.

Other coaches at the gym include Amelia Schweiger, who has worked as a cheerleading judge at national competitions and has competed internationally in the sport.

In last year’s competition season, it took out multiple medals at the AASCF Winterfest and the Aussie Gold championships.

Royal All Stars, Narre Warren

The Royal All Stars Cheerleading Academy first began 2011, with classes in competition and recreational cheerleading.

In 2019, the growing club changed its named to Royal All Stars Cheer & Dance Academy and is now known as one of the top clubs in Victoria.

Situated in the heart of Narre Warren, the club has athletes travel from far and wide to attend training sessions.



The club is run by Susan Lobriza, who is the director and head-coach, who was formerly an elite Canadian cheerleader.

She has also competed at several international competitions, was one of the NOVA 100 cheerleaders and has performed at major Australian events.

At the AASCF national championships, their teams took out a swag of podium places included the pinnacle champions title.

Evolve All Stars

This club was started up by three sisters with a love of cheerleading and has evolved into one of the biggest gyms in the state.

Between the three head coaches, there’s more than 30 years in cheerleading coaching experience at the club.

Gemma Miles, head coach and one of the founders, was a part of the first Australian team to travel to the cheerleading world championships in Florida and has won multiple national titles.

Alongside her sisters, she’s lead the club to achieve multiple awards at national championships.

In addition to competitive cheerleading training, Evolve All Stars also offers an inclusive program called Cheerability, which is specifically designed for young athletes on the autism spectrum.
