A young Melbourne family has written a bucket list to complete with their father after he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in January this year.

Jason Bounds, 38, of The Basin, was given 27 months to live and plans to spend it making lasting memories with his family.

Jason along with his wife Chelsee and their two young children, Shelby and Jackson, have written a bucket list that includes bike rides to school, family photos, a Mildura holiday, completing their backyard, and even embarking on a family caravan trip across Australia.

Family friend Erin Billinghurst has set up a Go Fund Me for the family to help them complete their list.

“It took a while to let me talk them into it but they are so grateful for all the support,” she said.

“Jason has always helped everybody else and people want to repay that favour.”

Mrs Billinghurst said one of the major fundraising goals was to help the family complete the renovation of their dream home.

Jason, a talented builder and business owner, began renovating the family home before his MND diagnosis.

“The renovation has had to be put on pause, but the family would love to have it complete so they can host family and friends,” Mrs Billinghurst said.

“Jason wants to host an event for the Big Freeze in June in the backyard and it’s currently a bit of a dust pile.

“He is always a great host and is a whirlwind at cooking pizzas and always making sure everyone is fed.”

The home will also need to have additional renovations to accommodate for different mobility needs.

Mrs Billinghurst said the family was extremely grateful and a “bit dumbfounded” at the outpouring of support after the GoFundMe raised more than $14,000 in five days.
