Westfield Knox Village Cinemas to reopen after upgrade

Movie lovers are in for a treat with the cinemas at Knox Ozone set to reopen. An innovative experience with “crafted food and beverage options” is set to entice film fans back. Find out when your nearest cinema will reopen.

An “innovative” experience awaits movie lovers at Village Cinemas at Knox Ozone when the theatres reopen after Victoria’s lockdown.

The cinemas have been closed for several months due to coronavirus restrictions, with the entrance boarded up.

When asked what was happening at the Knox complex, Village Cinemas said in a statement: “In 2020, Village Entertainment are excited to introduce an innovative communal experience that combines social games and crafted food and beverage options.”

A Village Cinemas spokesman said the complex was undergoing an upgrade to its foyer and candy bar precinct.

The refurbishment will be unveiled when the cinemas reopen on July 2.

Other Village Cinemas across Melbourne will reopen on the same date.

When Knox Leader visited the Ozone recently, several businesses were still closed while others including The Sporting Globe, The Pancake Parlour, Fonda, Miss Pickle, Oneworld and Seoul Kitchen have reopened.

The Hog’s Breath Cafe, The Bavarian and the Seamus O’Toole Irish Pub were still closed.

Meanwhile other cinemas have announced their reopening dates, with Metro Cinemas Boronia hoping to welcome back customers in the first week of July.

The Astor has released its new calendar for films in July, while Cameo Cinemas Belgrave, Lido Cinemas Hawthorn and Classic Cinema Elsternwick will be back on June 22, offering $10 tickets.

On May 25, Hoyts posted on its Facebook page it would be reopening its cinemas in “the coming weeks”.
