The AFL is finally returning with a bumper round 2 fixture. And while most fans can’t attend games this Knox sports bar has reopened just in time for them to cheer on their team — and will enforce social distancing with a high-tech ordering system.

It’s been a long wait but AFL finally returns tonight and The Sporting Globe at Knox Ozone is ready to welcome back fans.
The venue reopened on June 1 after closing during Victoria’s lockdown period.
It boasts more than 50 screens for punters to watch the Richmond versus Collingwood clash.
Sporting Globe chief executive and founder James Sinclair said he was elated to have the footy back.
“It should be terrific and what a great game to kick off,” he said.
“Obviously AFL in Victoria is the headline product and it’s super exciting for Victorians and our customer base to have it back on.”
Mr Sinclair said under the current restrictions, the Knox venue was allowed to have 20 people on each of its three levels and outdoor space.
He urged people to make a booking if they were planning a visit to the venue, especially to watch a game.
He said the venue had increased safety measures for patrons, including separating tables and making sure people were 1.5m away from each other.
Mr Sinclair said they had also developed a digital experience for customers, allowing them to scan a QR code on arrival which will prompt a guest registration.
“Then upon entering the venue all of our tables have been equipped with our own Sporting Globe ordering beacons; you tap the beacon on the table with your phone and digital ordering pops up and you can place all of your orders contactless, through your device,” he said.
“It’s a terrific initiative and it has been well received.”
Servers will still be available to help as needed.

Mr Sinclair said all Sporting Globes had reopened around the country after the “incredibly challenging” lockdown period.
He said from June 22, all things going well, he was hopeful restrictions would be eased further allowing 50 people per space in Victorian venues.
Mr Sinclair said plans were still on track to open a Sporting Globe in Chirnside Park later in the year, hopefully in time for the AFL Grand Final.
