Three alleged car thieves have been nabbed at Westfield Knox after the police chopper helped track them from the northern suburbs.

Police arrested three teenagers in an allegedly stolen car at the shopping centre on Friday May 27, after a silver Volkswagen Polo hatch was allegedly stolen from Sydney Rd Coburg overnight.

Police, with the assistance of the police air wing, followed the stolen vehicle from Broadmeadows to Wantirna South where the teens were arrested about 10.50am.

Two boys aged 17 and 15 and a 13-year-old girl are currently in custody.
