Wantirna South fire: Lewis Road bank chemical blaze in basement of industrial property
A hazardous blaze that broke out in a Wantirna South industrial street bank took 30 firefighters and hazmat experts to control.

Firefighters swarmed an industrial area in Knox after calls about a chemical fire at a bank in Wantirna South.
A crew of more than 30 attended a Lewis Rd property after the report came through at 3.45am on Sunday, July 4.
According to Fire Rescue Victoria, the complex fire was discovered in the basement battery room of the property and crews wearing breathing apparatus went in to attack it.
A spokesperson said the fire was producing chemical gasses and a large amount of smoke, which challenged firefighting efforts.
Specialist hazmat technicians and scientific advisers were on scene to help and firefighters had the blaze under control before 4.30am.
FRV and CFA crews remained on scene until about 7am, working with electrical and water companies to make sure the scene was safe.
