Wantirna Road crash: Five hospitalised after driver allegedly runs red light
A 77-year-old woman remains in hospital after she was involved in a horror smash in Wantirna that saw five people taken to hospital.

A woman remains in hospital four days after a driver allegedly ran a red light in Wantirna and collided with another car, injuring five people.
Sergeant Michael Aston said the crash occurred about 10.55pm on Saturday, February 15, after a white Nissan X-trail travelled south on Wantirna Rd allegedly at “a high rate of speed” before it allegedly ran a red light at Boronia Rd, hitting the driver’s side of a white Ford Fairmont that was in the intersection.
Sgt Aston said the force of the crash pushed the Ford into a traffic light pole, before both cars ended up “significantly damaged” on a nature strip.
The driver of the Nissan, a 61-year-old Burwood man, was taken to The Alfred with non-life threatening head trauma, while his passenger, a 59-year-old Burwood woman, was also admitted in a stable condition.

Sgt Aston said both had since been released.
The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old Forest Hill man, was taken to The Royal Melbourne Hospital before he was transferred to The Alfred, suffering a broken collar bone among other injuries.
His two passengers, a 77-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman, both from Forest Hill, were taken to the Royal Melbourne with fractured bones.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital has confirmed the 77-year-old Forest Hill woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Several police units and the CFA joined Ambulance Victoria on scene.
Sgt Aston said police were still investigating the crash.
