Victoria Police investigate Boronia car accident on Kalman Drive; two men critical
Two men are fighting for life after a horrific crash in Boronia that destroyed a car and ripped a tree out of the ground. Police are now trawling through video footage to find out what happened.

Footage is being investigated by police following a car accident that ripped a tree out of the ground in Boronia.
Two men, a 51-year-old driver and his 31-year-old passenger, both from The Basin, remain at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition after the accident that left their white Holden sedan wrapped around a tree on Saturday, January 25.

Speed is being investigated as the cause of a single-vehicle accident in an industrial estate on Kalman Drive at 7.40pm.
The pair are not related.
A photo (shown above) released by Victoria Police major collision unit shows what remains of the obliterated car after it has smashed through a tree on a nature strip, ripping the trunk out of the ground and breaking it in half.
After crashing through a tree, the car ended up ripped apart and folded around another tree.
Major collision unit detective Acting Sergeant Brendan Eames-Mayer said police were speaking with witnesses and looking at CCTV footage.
“We’re waiting to speak with the driver when he’s well enough,” Acting Sgt Eames-Mayer said.
He said police were looking for anyone with information on the crash to come forward.

Sgt Eames-Mayer said while the cause of the crash was yet to be determined, detectives were investigating all avenues including speed.
He appealed to anyone with dashcam footage or business owners in the area with surveillance, to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
“Police are appealing for any witnesses, dashcam footage or CCTV that may show the Holden driving erratically in the area prior to the collision to come forward,” Sgt Eames-Mayer said.
