Vanilla slices at Ringwood East’s The Burger Moore Cafe proving popular
When this Ringwood East husband and wife opened a burger cafe, they didn’t expect the most popular item to be their vanilla slice. Now they sell out most days, and there are plans to extend the range to canine customers.

A Ringwood East burger joint is becoming a cult favourite and attracting visitors from all over Melbourne — for its vanilla slices.
Husband and wife David and Tania Kayser are being inundated for their scrumptious take on the sweet treat at The Burger Moore Cafe.
The cafe opened in February with a focus on burgers and coffee and the duo gradually added doughnuts and cakes to the menu.
Their vanilla slice became a viral hit on Facebook and they are now baking and selling more than 200 a day.
Mr Kayser said the cafe’s recipe was a traditional one honed over the years, and they made their own pastry and cream.
He said customers were coming from as far as Mornington and Craigieburn to snap them up.
“We’re not sleeping at night, we’re so excited,” Mr Kayser said.
“It’s not so much about the money but the feedback we’re getting, and the fact people are travelling 40-50 minutes to get a vanilla slice.”

There’s even better news for those with four-legged friends — the cafe is dog-friendly and Mr Kayser said they were developing dog-sized vanilla slices and “dog-a-chinos” made with puppy milk.
Mr Kayser said the cafe would also be bringing out different vanilla slice flavours in future.
The Burger Moore Cafe is at 81 Bedford Rd, Ringwood East.
Anyone wanting to book tables or have staff put vanilla slices aside for them is urged to phone the cafe on 0402 327 658.
