A woman has died after her car crashed into a pole in Silvan while a man was killed after his car struck a tree in Oaklands Junction.

A Monbulk woman, 21, was killed after her car came off the road and crashed into a pole on Monbulk Rd Silvan about 9.30pm Monday.

The woman, who was the only occupant in the car, died at the scene.

Investigations remain ongoing and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Monbulk Rd was closed for several hours after the crash.

Meanwhile a man was killed after his car hit a tree in Oaklands Junction in Melbourne’s northwest in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash off Somerton Rd near Oaklands Rd about 12.50am.

The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 52-year-old Meadow Heights man, died at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
