Two men have been arrested and drugs, a gun and cash have been seized following police raids in Melbourne’s outer east.

Croydon detectives swooped on Wednesday, October 14 after they pulled over a Wandin North man driving on Dorset Rd in Croydon around 2pm.

The man was found to have had a small quantity of methamphetamine on him and was arrested at the scene.

Acting Sergeant Rob Gyarmathy said officers then raided the 49-year-old man’s home in Victoria Rd and found an imported Spanish handgun and ammunition.

Sgt Gyarmathy said officers also raided a unit in Humber Rd, Croydon in connection with the arrest.

They seized $65,000 of ice, half a kilogram of cannabis, a small quantity of heroin and $1600 cash.

The unit was previously raided by detectives in August in a separate incident when drugs, cash and a handgun seized.

Sgt Gyarmathy said officers arrested a 56-year-old man at the Croydon North unit in Wednesday’s raid.

“A significant quantity of drugs and weapons bound for Melbourne’s streets have been seized and investigators consider this a very successful operation,” Sgt Gyarmathy said.

The two men were taken separately into custody at Croydon police station for questioning.

Senior Constable Scott Vanish said the Croydon North man was charged with 20 offences related to drug trafficking, drug possession and offences while on bail.

The man faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was further remanded to appear at the court again on January 21.

Sen-Constable Vanish said the Wandin North man was charged with driving while suspended, possession of an imitation handgun and drugs.

He was bailed to face the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on the charges at a later date.

On Thursday, detectives raided a third home in Wright St, Seaford at 7pm and seized small quantities of methamphetamine and GHB.

No one was home at the time but Sen-Constable Vanish said detectives would continue to search for the occupants as part of their investigations.
