McDonald’s has officially opened its doors in Chirnside Park, creating more than 100 new jobs.
The new Maroondah Highway restaurant will also inject $5m into the local economy.
McDonald’s Australia market director for Victoria and Tasmania, Kelly Nardella, said: “We are proud to open McDonald’s Chirnside Park and provide economic investment, jobs, and training and development opportunities for the local community.”
The store is fitted with modern decor and features a dual lane drive thru, dedicated partner delivery room, McCafe, PlayPlace and a party room.
The new restaurant also uses LED lighting, solar panels, heat recovery water systems, recycled rainwater for use in the toilets, and recycled content for wheel stops, dining room tiles, soft fall and play equipment.
McDonald’s is currently hiring a variety of crew, barista, host, management and maintenance roles in restaurants across Melbourne.
If Macca’s isn’t your thing, burritos, tacos and quesadillas are also officially on the menu in the outer east, with a new Taco Bell also opening its doors in Chirnside Park.
Fans of the chain queued up in-store and in the drive-through when the Maroondah Highway outlet opened its doors on Valentine’s Day.
It is the ninth Taco Bell store to open in Victoria, joining outlets in Altona North, Berwick South, Dandenong South, Hawthorn, Hoppers Crossing, Narre Warren, Roxburgh Park and South Yarra.
The Chirnside Park Taco Bell is part of the new Chirnside Lifestyle Centre, home to up to a dozen big brand stores including Baby Bunting, Fantastic Furniture, Carpet Call, Ashley Furniture and Early Settler.
Subway has also recently opened.
A Bargain Depot Grocery Clearance store also opened in the precinct this week.
Described as one of the biggest branded grocery clearance outlets in Victoria, it sells a number of big brands at up to 70 per cent off, including Dr Pepper, Wonka, Cadbury, Nestle, Nescafe, Palmolive and more.
And there’s more good news for discount shoppers in the east, with popular chain NQR set to open a new store on Waverley Rd Mt Waverley in March.
