It’ll be some apprenticeship for rising Victorian Premier Cricket batter Shobit Singh.
Singh has crossed from Richmond to Dandenong, where he will ply his trade at the top of the order alongside competition great Brett Forsyth.
The 21-year-old struck his maiden first XI ton in February against a Melbourne attack which boasted David Moody, Glenn Hannah and Jack Prestwidge.
Singh is hopeful of steering Dandenong back to the finals alongside the reigning Ryder Medallist.
“I am looking to get hopefully get Dandenong into the finals,” he said.
“I want to learn from Forsy as well, he’s made so many runs and has so much experience, it will be good to bat with him.”
Singh, who still has ambitions to play for Victoria, was linked with Casey South Melbourne before committing to Dandenong.
He admits the difficulty of batting on Richmond’s home wicket, Central Reserve, does cross your mind but it isn’t why he made the shift.
“It’s obviously tough but runs can be scored there. I have previously scored runs at Central but it does play in your mind,” he said.
Dandenong has also added James Nanopoulos and local cricket trio Noah Whitford (Collegians), Tom Morrison (Collegians) and Jawid Khan (Dandenong).
