Springvale South dual premiership coach Darren Arter has stepped down after an extremely successful stint at the helm of the Turf 1 powerhouse.

After a dominant playing career, Arter has coached the Bloods for the past four seasons in the Dandenong District Turf 1 competition, collecting the last two premierships.

Club captain Ryan Quirk said Arter would be a hard coach to replace.

“He’s been a beauty, Darts,” he said.

“He does so much behind the scenes, he is there early every training and Saturday, as soon as we arrive everything is set up and ready to go.

“His best attribute was how organised he was, all we had to do was get ready and get out there.

“It’s not going to be easy (to replace him); Darts has so much respect at our cricket club, I don’t think one person can replace someone like that.”

Arter stepped down to spend time travelling with his family,

“Just want to thank the players, committee, dedicated volunteers, friends, supporters and Nicki for all their support over the years,” he said in a message to the club‘s members.

“I wish the firsts all the best in their effort to gain that three-peat.”

Springvale South heads into season 2023-24 with the hopes of winning three titles in as many years.
