When it comes to buying fresh fruit and veggies from two cool siblings, the Carter Bros have you sorted.

BJ and Josh started the Silvan greengrocer more than two years ago, which has now grown into a seven-day-a-week roaring trade for loyal locals and passing tourists.

The pair have created a strong social media following and reached out with a cheeky appeal to Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader through Instagram.

The pair grew up in The Basin and now live close to their shop in Chirnside Park and Kilsyth.

Josh’s wife Megan spoke to the Lilydale & Yarra Valley Leader while the brothers posed for photos featuring their fresh produce including melons and plums.

“They were hating their jobs and wanted to do something different,” Mrs Carter said.

“Josh had worked at a grocer before and we thought we’d give it a go.”

As well as the regulars and walk-ins, the Carter Bros have about 30 businesses they sell goods to wholesale including cafes, childcare centres, nursing homes, cafes and caterers, she said.

“As well as a large array of fruit and vegetables we stock gluten free, vegan pantry items,” she said.

Mrs Carter said for those harder-to-get-items like herbs the brothers could order especially for customers.

“We get a lot of our produce from Epping’s wholesale Melbourne Market,” she said.

“Our berries are grown locally and we often sell homegrown goods as well.”

BJ said trading in Silvan was good, everyone was nice and relaxed.

“It’s busy, it’s good, it’s a little nice place,” he said.

“All berries and apples and things are local and everything else we go into the Epping Market.”

The brothers have a celebrity status in the area with many of their social followers recognising the pair while at Chirnside Park shopping centre.

The Carter Bros Fruit & Veg is at 399 Monbulk Silvan Rd, Silvan.
