A YOUNG boy was viciously attacked by a swooping magpie leaving him with facial and body injuries.
Rowville’s Terri Walker said her 11-year-old son Jordan was set upon while cycling on Karoo Rd opposite Village Green Park.
“He (Jordan) was swooped while riding his bike on a footpath multiple times,” Ms Walker said. The young boy suffered nerve damage to his front tooth after the magpie attacked his face, as well as cuts and scrapes.

“The magpie basically cut the tooth in half,” Ms Walker said. “He’s healing now but will be getting his tooth checked next week to assess the damage.”
The force of the attack made Jordan fall off his bike, leaving him with a sprained ankle.
Ms Walker said the area was prone to magpie attacks.
“I know of many people being swooped in this particular area,” Ms Walker said. “They really need to put signs up warning people.”
The young boy is now too scared to return to the park.
Others have also taken to social media to warn people to where to watch out for swooping magpies, after a dive-bombing bird gave one young woman a bloody injury on the Warburton Trail.
Therese, who didn’t give her last name, said she was running on the track between Woori
Yallock and Seville when a magpie flew down and pecked her in the head, leaving blood dripping down her face.
On a Facebook post, Therese warned the community to be careful.
“It came from behind and was in and out by the time I realised what had happened,” she said.
“I thought it had ripped my head open.”
